About Us:

The Odessa Theatre Guild was formed in 1939 and produced plays until World War II. In 1948 the group formed The Permian Playhouse and presented Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit.

In 1957 with leadership provided by Bill Holm, Ed Costello, and Thelma Maxwell, The Permian Playhouse of Odessa was incorporated as a non-profit organization for the study, practice, and production of dramatic and other fine arts. Plays were presented in rented venues and school auditoriums. In less than a decade it was apparent that a permanent facility was needed to house the burgeoning organization.

The Permian Playhouse presents a full season of plays and musicals providing countless hours of entertainment. Theatre Education classes and Youth Theatre productions continue to enriched the lives of the children of the Permian Basin. The Permian Playhouse continues to serve the needs, desires, and dreams of its citizens.
