Mission Statement

The mission of the Historical Park is to collect, preserve and interpret the history of the United States and Texas with an emphasis on Peters Colony and Farmers Branch.

Park History

In 1981, the Mayor and City Council appointed a new advisory board, the Historical Preservation and Restoration Board, to spearhead the movement to develop an outdoor museum whose purpose would be to preserve and interpret the history of Texas and Peters Colony, with an emphasis on Farmers Branch. Since it opened in 1986, the Historical Park has strived to preserve and share the heritage of North Texas and Farmers Branch with visitors. Welcoming approximately 50,000 visitors each year, the Historical Park offers many opportunities from tours and educational programs to special events and craft workshops.
